This episode, entitled Fever, is one of my favorites. In this episode, Clark is afflicted with a Kryptonian virus, and loses his powers for a while. Chloe, meanwhile, affected by Clark’s budding relationship with Lana, decides to confess her feelings for Clark. She writes him a poem, and recites it to him while Clark was sleeping at home in the couch, still very feverish.
Clark wakes up and mumbles “Lana?” and naturally Chloe bursts into tears for thought that Clark still thinks about Lana even when it is she that is there for him.
The poem that Chloe wrote has many allusions to the future Superman and even the future Lois Lane, such as saying “Fly back to me someday” and a lot of other allusions to hidden identities.

Lana understood that the convergence of Clark, kryptonite and a bolt of lighting gave her Clark’s super powers. However, her gain was not Clark’s loss treating the audience with a somewhat hilarious sex scene on broadcast TV. The coming together of the two super powered characters triggered an earthquake at the Talon.
Chloe of course points out the dangers of Lana having the powers of Clark. Lana somewhat proves Chloe by boasting that she can break into locked doors, slip into rooms unnoticed and eavesdrop on conversations. Later on, Clark confronts Lana in the barn and she admits to kidnapping Lionel explaining that she did it to protect Clark. Clark realized that Lana had been acting crazy but she talked her way out of a confrontation by making Clark promise that he will always love her no matter what.
